What starts off as an innocent quest for information turns into a string of murders in the small towns along the Outer Banks, causing Jo to fear for her own safety. When her soon-to-be ex-husband gets involved things become more and more complicated--even deadly. However, she can't let Cristabel's fate go unrevenged, and vows to stop the killer and find the treasure at all costs.

Linda Lehmann Masek is a native Ohioan who has been writing for over twenty years. She has worked as an art teacher and librarian, but her true love is writing. As a child she produced a twenty page "horse book," complete with plot and climax, and she was on her way. In addition to a "cat book," Linda has had library articles and children's stories published. Besides writing, the author also enjoys outdoor sports and working at local animal shelters. Her own three cats provide much of the inspiration for cat characters such as Marlowe in The Poison Tree.
