The Editor: Coordinator of the Bilingual/Multicultural Education Program, Lourdes Diaz Soto has taught diverse early childhood, elementary, secondary, and university students since 1970 in New York, Florida, Puerto Rico, and Pennsylvania. She has authored numerous research articles and book chapters, received a Spencer Grant, and is the author of Language, Culture and Power: Bilingual Families and the Struggle for Quality Education. Her most recent work has examined issues of equity and social justice. She serves on the Professional Development Panel, chairs the Bilingual Caucus, and is a governing board candidate for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She is past president of the Pennsylvania Association for Bilingual Education, and past chair of the Early Childhood Special Interest Group of the National Association for Bilingual Education.
