A Study conducted, to measure the psychological and physiological effects of breathing meditation on the stress response by measuring the heart rate variability using the emWave device. The study was carried out over a period of 6 months, where human subjects were invited to participate in several sessions. The subjects were initially trained in two breathing techniques and then performed them for a short period of time, while connected to the emWave monitor, which created visual images of heart activity. It was concluded that breathing meditation is an effective stress relief technique as it improved vagal tone activity, coherence and developed positive emotions. Breathing meditation is a quick, simple and effective technique that can be practiced by anyone and will result in positive psychological and physiological effects.
