Some English Teachers dwell their learners in deep Grammar-based classes where the teacher is the knowledge provider, that is the knower of the subject matter and learners are seen as empty containers ready to be filled up by the teacher. They think telling students what they need to know and providing immense grammatical rules will help and enable them be fluent in English Language. However, this is perhaps not true in the eyes of the learner-based approach. This renewed English teaching approach believes that learners' engagement in the whole process of English language teaching and learning is essential. In this approach the complete learning experience is focused on the learner. Learners need to be exposed to real life scenarios that are relevant to the development of problem solving skills. One of the English language teaching resources which have the power to empower learners is poetry.
