In recent years, LASER has become an indispensable therapeutic aid in both general and specialized dentistry.Today, among all the LASER systems in use, Erbium lasers: Er: YAG (2.94µm) and Er, Cr: YSGG (2.78µm), represent an interesting and promising innovation in dentistry. In restorative dentistry, these lasers can be used in most conservative treatments (prevention of tooth demineralization, caries curettage, preparation of cavities for bonding, treatment of dentine hypersensitivity...), with promising results. In endodontics, these lasers have found their way into the various stages of root canal treatment, from preparation of access cavities to definitive root canal obturation. They also make a considerable contribution to endodontic surgery. However, despite their virtues, the use of these two Erbium lasers in dental practices is still limited by their high cost.
