The process of Inculturation in the Catholic Church is a vital tool for incarnating the message of Christ to cultures. This process of incarnating the message of Christ requires not only the expertise of clergy and religious trained in seminaries and religious houses of formation, but also the contribution of the laity trained in Catholic Schools and Universities.Consequently this work examined the role that Catholic Schools and Universities should play in the process of Inculturation in the Nigerian Church. The author asked three pertinent questions: 1) What are the Church directives on Inculturation? 2) What are the directives on Inculturation given specifically to Catholic schools in carrying out the process of Inculturation? 3) Based on the documents analysis, what is the emergent model applicable for Inculturation by Catholic Schools in Nigeria? In this work the author examined seventeen Church documents and extracted from them directives regarding the role of Catholic schools in the process of Inculturation, which were then used to develop a model that is applicable to the Church in Nigeria in its work of incarnating the message of Christ to the life and culture of its people.
