The monograph is dedicated to the history of the Orlovsky Krai periodical press in 1917-1937. The book is one of the first attempts to study the region's press during these years, to show the main trends of its development, to acquaint the reader with the political and legal conditions of publishing newspapers and magazines, their content, to reveal the peculiarities of journalism development in the Russian province. The features of the provincial periodicals of revolutionary years and the NEP period of the 1930s are shown in detail, and the fates of journalists, including the victims of political repression, are told. The book is based on rare and little-known publications, archival materials and memories.
