Autorenporträt
A native of Camagüey, Cuba, Alicia Barton always dreamed of being an opera singer. However, her dream was truncated when the Cuban Revolution took power in 1959. Like thousands of Cuban citizens, she and her family went into exile to start a new life from scratch. Upon retirement from the banking industry, where she worked as secretary and translator, she decided to write an eyewitness account of the rigors and deprivation of living under a repressive political regime. The Price of Treason is the result of that effort. Mrs. Barton lives in Miami with her son and two grandchildren.
