Rebecca Miller, Tochter des Schriftstellers Arthur Miller und der Fotografin Inge Morath, hat sich bereits als Regisseurin, Schauspielerin, Bildhauerin und Malerin einen Namen gemacht, bevor mit "Als sie seine Schuhe sah, wusste sie, dass sie ihren Mann verlassen würde" ihr hoch gelobtes Debüt als Schriftstellerin erschien. Die Verfilmung dreier Erzählungen des Buches, bei der Rebecca Miller selbst Regie führte, hat dieses Jahr beim Sundance-Filmfestival den Grand Jury Prize gewonnen. Rebecca Miller ist seit 1996 mit dem Schauspieler Daniel Day-Lewis verheiratet, mit dem sie einen kleinen Sohn hat.
