Ethiopia has had a rich history of civilization. This civilization has been engraved in the rocks of its land to gleam forever despite the piles of dust thrown through the ages. One of the grandeur heritage that depicts this reality is the medieval rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. Many have been traveling to see this awesome work of the medieval Ethiopia, but none of them decipher the mystery of its site or buildings carved out from a single rock without mobilizing flood of materials, machines, tools and manpower as now. No one told the world why these churches congregated to such number in a rolling slope of land and what they are talking about their disposition through history. This work unveiled this reality and leads researchers further to explore and uncover more churches and heritages in this world heritage site. Especially, archeologists, architects, restorers, historians, urban designers, and tourists will find it interesting for their work.
