Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) or Ubiquinone is an oil-soluble, vitamin-like substance present in almost all eukaryotic cells, primarily in the mitochondria. It is a component of the electron transport chain and participates in aerobic cellular respiration, generating energy in the form of ATP. Vitamin C, a water-soluble micronutrient essential for humans, it is a powerful antioxidant acting both directly via scavenging of Reactive Oxygen Species and indirectly through regeneration of other antioxidant systems. It has been proven that oxidative damage to macromolecules in vivo can be diminished by supplementation with large doses of this vitamin.
