Cassio Vale and Patrícia Oliveira are scholars in the field of education, especially educational policies in the state of Pará, Brazil. The authors' experience with the issue of the public-private relationship in education was strengthened after their course in the Postgraduate Programme in Education at the Federal University of Pará (PPGED/UFPA), where they had the opportunity in this book to expand on a debate started at the 5th Ibero-American Congress on Education Policy and Administration.
