LOS ANGELES THE EIGHTIES Cait MacReady is an ex-punk rocker, having spent her college years bouncing around the underground that was quickly burning out and becoming something more hardcore. She spent time interning with occult mystery hunters running their own ramshackle television show. She became a librarian and book restorer. She became a forger, recreating lost and forbidden volumes of magickal power, all the time never once believing that there was anything to all that and steering well clear of anyone who did. She made up a book of her own. To see if she could fool anyone into thinking that it was real history, real magic, real power. Just to see what happened. Then she met the Queen. The Queen already knows about the book, already believes in its power, already craves what is written within those pages. And she'll do anything to possess it. Originally released in 2018, The Queen of No Tomorrows returns in a revised edition. Accompanying the original novel is a new novella entitled "Dreams are Made of Us," telling the story of the band Dreamless, who may have stumbled into overnight success after ten years. But success comes at the cost of playing someone else's song. Only this time it's the Queen of No Tomorrows who is calling the tune. The first of the Hazeland books, The Queen of No Tomorrows combines crime and weird horror, wrapped around a heart of longing and a perhaps dangerous belief in the power of the word to change the real. This edition also includes many pages of behind-the-scenes notes, inspirations and shots fired across the bow of hidebound thought.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
I was born in California, sometime between the JFK assassination and the moon landing. Lived there my whole life. Learned to drive stick shift in the parking lot of the ziggurat that you see in Roger Corman's Death Race 2000 and went to school where they filmed all those soft brutalist sets in Battle for the Planet of the Apes. I've worked in video arcades and think tanks, been an animator, taught sociology, thanatology and ethnomethodology. My past writings include work for Blizzard Entertainment, stories in both Tomorrow's Cthulhu and Welcome to Miskatonic University from Broken Eye Books. Broken Eye was the original publisher for The Queen of No Tomorrows as well, recently re-published by Highway 62 Press.I've self-published a number of books, both nonfiction/commentary and short/long fiction works. I was also the writer and publisher of the weird western comic series Strangeways. Hazeland will be the bulk of my work for the forseeable future. Unless someone wants to pay me to do something else. It's not like there's a lot of money in this. Sorry, high priests of success. It's true.Sure. I'd love to be on your podcast.http://highway62press.com@highway62 on Bluesky, not Twitter
