Autorenporträt
Ferenc A. Váli was a lawyer and professor of government and international relations. He taught at the University of Budapest until he and his wife were imprisoned on political charges in 1951. After they were released in 1956, he and his wife fled to the United States, where Mr. Vali took a position at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. In addition to The Quest for a United Germany, Mr. Váli authored Rift and Revolt in Hungary: Nationalism versus Communism and The Future of Germany.
