Does your daily work feel like someone is handing you a box of ingredients and expecting a gourmet dinner in return? The only problem is, they have put you in the kitchen with no recipe. You are on your own. If you are not a seasoned chef, it may not turn out so well until you build your knowledge, or someone shares their wisdom with you. In order to get out of this cycle, we need to take a fresh look at ourselves and spice up our work presence. It begins with self-reflection on ten hidden attributes we admire in people but seldom have critical discussions on. It seems simple, but there is a deeper issue that needs to be resolved first. Everyone has their own ideals that define these attributes based on influences by their family, education, religious beliefs, work or even entertainment choices. This problem is resolved through open dialogue that harmonizes the attribute definitions in measurable statements, ensuring everyone is on the same page. The current attribute paradigm people are following focuses on only three or four attributes because those attributes allow a "feel good" or "look at me" attitude toward what they are supporting. Unfortunately, this often leaves out the critical attributes that protect us from negative impact. It is time to have open discussions, realign the attributes, and reset the paradigm to allow positivity in the world. The world is your oyster. How will you season it?
