Inappropriately, the color black, associated with the dominated slave, while white is associated with the dominant and superior master, leads to resentment among the people thus inferiorized. Hence this vindictiveness towards the white dominant, leading to the exasperated identity claims of the dominated, and fostering, in place of E. Glissant's relational identity of the Tout-Monde, a heightened mistrust of multiculturalism or its improved, politically correct version, lived out since time immemorial: transculturalism.
