Michael Friesner works at the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Linguistics at that same institution. His research in sociolinguistics examines phonological variation and change, focusing on questions of language contact, ethnicity, and dialectology, notably in Quebec French.
