The day my 25-year-old son died, the old me died with him. I've been trying to resurrect a new self ever since. This is our story. In this book and its companion, 'A Son's Pain,' you will not find me professing victory over grief, nor will you find a guaranteed guide on how to navigate the predefined 'stages' of grief. What you will find is an unfiltered account of our journeys. You'll be at my side as my son's lifeless body falls to my feet, and as I agonize over questions about the suspicious circumstances surrounding his passing. You'll see precious moments of insight and soul-filled expression amid a sea of overwhelming thoughts and sensations. You will witness pain, anger, hopelessness, fear, confusion, and a host of unflattering snapshots from our lives and minds. You will also be with us as we explore love, perseverance, compassion, empathy, budding wisdom, and the beauty of authentic feelings. In these writings, Austin and I try to make sense of our worlds, with the hope that someday, in some way, our words will make a difference in your life.
Autorenporträt
Above all else, Rain is a human being trying to add value to the world while living her truth. During her young to middle adult years, that meant being a devoted wife, full-time mother of two boys, and working professional with over 20 years of experience in marketing, nonprofit, wellness, and yoga. Now in her 50's, it means using her love of writing, wellness, and spirituality to serve others. Rain seeks to make a difference through her books, speaking, sharing lessons she has learned, shedding light upon uncomfortable truths and alternative perspectives, and speaking out for those who may not have the ability or freedom to speak for themselves. Rain has a B.A. in Philosophy from SUNY Binghamton. She also has formally studied Trauma, energy healing, and herbalism. She is certified as a teacher of Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Zumba, Pound Fitness, and a Personal Trainer. Rain believes in the power of faith, the importance of working toward the highest good, and in God's law over arbitrary, often corrupt, manmade law. I love the outdoors, dancing, the arts, science fiction, and anything that dares to push the envelope or explore the world beyond our limited perception of reality.
