Mary Alice Barksdale is an Associate Professor in Elementary Education at Virginia Tech. A Virginia native, Mary Alice would listen to her grandmother tell Molly's story often. Mary Alice has received two Fulbright Scholar awards, the first in Russia and the second in South Africa. She also worked extensively in Malawi. Mary Alice's interests include children's literature, literacy education, teacher education, global education, and social justice.
