Iván Duque Márquez. In June 2018, he became Colombia's youngest president-elect, receiving the most votes in the country's history. He has been globally acclaimed for his leadership on environmental issues, such as energy transition and the conservation of the Amazon, as well as his handling of the largest migratory crisis in the Americas. Previously, his roles have included Senator, head of the InterAmerican Development Bank's (IDB) Cultural, Solidarity and Creativity Affairs Division, advisor for the United Nations Department of Political Affairs, and head senior counsellor for Colombia on the IDB's board of directors, among others. He is a lawyer with studies in philosophy and humanities. He has a Master's in Public Policy Management from Georgetown University, and another in International Law from the American University, both of which are in Washington D.C. He also has an honorary doctorate in Economics from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. He has written 11 books, as well as numerous columns in various publications, and has taught at university. He has been acknowledged with the highest honors in a number of countries and recently won the Teddy Roosevelt International Conservation Award, given by the prestigious International Conservation Award, given by the prestigious International Conservation Caucus Foundation (ICCF). He is married to María Juliana Ruiz and has three children.
