Autorenporträt
Jennifer Militzer-Kopperl is the author of The Roadmap to Literacy: Renewal of Literacy® Edition. Jennifer is a private Remedial Specialist. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.A. in Russian Studies (1994), completed two years of graduate school in Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Kansas, and graduated from Rudolf Steiner College with a degree in Waldorf education (2005). Her background in education includes clinician and trainer at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes® (1999-2001), resource specialist (2002-2005), and private Remedial Specialist for area Waldorf schools (2005-2022). Jennifer has taught hundreds of students to read and has trained scores of teachers, including clinicians and teachers at Lindamood-Bell and Waldorf faculties both private and public. She has assessed hundreds of Waldorf students over the years and has taught reading and spelling to classes, small groups, and individuals. Jennifer got the idea to write The Roadmap to Literacy in the aughties when she was assessing second-grade reading skills in a Waldorf school as part of the school's accreditation process. She discovered a distinctive pattern of weaknesses in early reading skills (Waldorf profile) that she could explain through her background in linguistics. She began offering workshops including "How English Works" to Waldorf faculties to show them how to teach reading and spelling skills in English by combining Lindamood-Bell® practices with Waldorf methodology. These workshops were the genesis of The Roadmap to Literacy. Jennifer wrote The Roadmap to Literacy: Renewal of Literacy® Edition to finish that book and show teachers how to get up to 95% of students reading and spelling at grade level in a way that aligns with the spirit of Steiner's indication and intentions for Waldorf education. The Roadmap to Literacy: Renewal of Literacy® Edition is Jennifer Militzer-Kopperl's third book. Jennifer is the co-author of The Roadmap to Literacy: A Guide to Teaching Language Arts in Waldorf Schools Grades 1 through 3 (Langley and Militzer-Kopperl 2018) and the author of the sequel Continuing the Journey to Literacy: A Guide to Teaching Language Arts in Waldorf Schools Grades 4 through 8 (Militzer-Kopperl 2020). The Roadmap to Literacy and Continuing the Journey to Literacy form a complete program for teaching language arts in Waldorf Schools grades 1-8. This program is called Renewal of Literacy®, and it is comprised of the Roadmap to Literacy Books and online courses.Jennifer is the creator of the websites renewalofliteracy.com and roadmaptolitercysite.com.Jennifer lives with her husband and their two cats.
