FRANCISCO PINA POLO is Professor of Ancient History at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. He is also the author of The Consul at Rome: The Civil Functions of the Consuls in the Roman Republic (Cambridge, 2011), and co-director of the series Libera Res Publica: Monografías sobre la República Romana.
