The study, "The Role of Newspapers in Combating Nigeria's Security Issues", was set to analyse the role of newspapers in combating security problem in Nigeria. Findings revealed that the attention of newspapers to insecurity in Nigeria is encouraging, as it was revealed that when incidents of insecurity happen, national daily newspapers cover the events on daily basis. Findings also that the newspaper has been playing informative role to readers with its insecurity reports. Lastly, findings revealed that newspaper reports on insecurity helped in tackling national insecurity problem by enabling the masses to evade from further of such occurrences. However, despite the fact that the newspaper is playing informative role with its reports on insecurity in Nigeria, its effort in tackling national insecurity problem has been less effective. The study recommended among others that the government, through security agencies should be in alliance with newspapers and other media channels in order to eliminate insecurity in Nigeria.
