Cadmium is the most prevalent environmental pollutant, which exerts diverse toxic effects in different tissues of animals and humans. Cadmium-afforded oxidative stress is leading not only to DNA impairments (mutations) but also leads to lipids peroxidation. Cadmium is widely used as heavy metal and with side effects and hepatotoxicity. Antioxidants substances interact with and stabilize the free radicals and consequently they prevent damage of cells caused by these radicals . Selenium and L-carnitine have major protective effects on many tissues injury and they have antioxidant effects. This book aims to assess the ameliorative function of both selenium and L-carnitine in liver toxicity due to cadmium chloride toxicity. Both selenium and L-carnitine administration inhibited liver injury and improved the redox state of mice due to Cd-toxicity.
