Further studies evaluating the effectiveness of other surgical techniques in the management of acne scars are recommended. Subcision followed by injection of PRP was the most effective in the treatment of post acne scars and all depressed facial scars. Platelet-rich plasma injection is a new and promising modality for the treatment of atrophic acne scars without the risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring. Most studies have evaluated the potential utility of PRP in combination therapies with other modalities such as lasers, radiofrequency, and autologous fat grafting. Notably, few studies have comparatively evaluated different subset of PRP to assess whether which subtype may be more suitable for particular indications. Clinical studies that comparatively assess different forms of PRP will help provide a better understanding of how different subsets may be utilized.
