This book explores the role the financial sector can play in addressing the food and energy issues of the developing world, it proposes that the financial sector can contribute in solving the food and energy needs of the developing world in a profitable way and from a sustainability standpoint. The market for food and energy in the developing world is not only huge but has long-term profit potentials that are financially sustainable. Though sustainability models like those proposed in this paper have limitations of not being at the core of business strategies, and that this pepper is based on desk rather than field research, it can be argued that the ideas proposed in this paper can contribute to addressing the food and energy issues in the developing world in a profitable way with minimal environmental impact.
