This work studied the role of women in community development with special emphasis on Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State. The Research was carried out due to the observed lag in women participation in community development all over Benue state. An intent look at the entire work especially at the findings made in the course of the study reveals that there is a yawning gap in the level of involvement of male and female gender in the development of the Benue society especially in the political economy of the state. This less involvement of the female folks have contributed in no small measure to the backwardness of the Benue society despite the enormous resources with which the society is endowed. It has to a great extent slowed down the pace at which the communities grow and develop. Therefore, this study submits that if the Benue society would develop like other societies, there is an urgent need to get more women involved in the development of every facet of the economy.
