The expulsion of hundreds of Roma from France and Italy, in 2010, was a point of discussion in some of the most important newspapers in the world. The main purpose of this work is to analyze how the issue of Roma expulsion was covered in the French newspapers Le Monde, Libération, Le Figaro, in the Italian newspapers La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, La Repubblica and Affari Italiani during the month of August, 2010. The newspapers for the analysis were chosen on the principle of presenting the coverage of the left and right-wing newspapers which discussed the Roma issue. The method applied was the critical discourse analysis as it helps to identify the presentation of Roma in the newspapers. The analysis includes comparisons on possible similarities and differences between the assumed rightist and leftist newspapers.
