Kirsten's The Rose Possessed is like a bag of M&Ms: you munch down one and you can't stop until it's all gone! It's like a sweet, plump plum, juicy and full of rich garden goodness. When you read this poem, you know they're going to stand the test of time. It'll be an archeologist's dream. The seedling lifts her teeny, tiny face to the giants that deny her the sunshine's grace and asks in a voice so sweet, so shy, "What is the sun? What is the sky? Would you let me see it please, before I shrivel up and die?" A mighty tree looks down in disdain at the little sprout that cried for rain. And then shrugs his mighty boughs aside and says, "Just one little look before you're dead." Well, other acts of poetry, move over, 'cause Kirsten's coming over! Kirsten Brawn has been a songwriter, an ad copywriter, and a financial advisor, and is now a poet, too. She has been a songwriter since elementary school, and, like fishing from the stream, she's been receiving from the ether words with rhythm and melody. Of course, it's hard to make a living as a songwriter, even if you're good. So, after a stint as a finance person, she has harnessed the right side of her brain again and resides now in the grand sea of poetry. Well, the poetry swimming around in the inspiration-sphere has met its fishing net. And in The Rose Possessed, Kirsten is serving it all up, crisp and juicy.
