Melissa lives on the Bellarine Peninsula with her husband and two children. She has always loved reading and grew up near her local library, where she spent most of her time browsing and borrowing books. Melissa is passionate about education, in particular literacy, and believes the ability to read and write gives power to change. Her debut young adult novel Destiny Road was released in 2012 and she was selected for The Maurice Saxby Writers Mentorship Program in 2015. Her work has won honourable mentions and features in several anthologies. She completed a Master of Education in 2017 while researching picture story book use in the classroom. "Things work out the best for those who make the best of the way things work out." This is the motto Melissa has lived by most of her life. She loves to travel and has been to many places including Egypt, Italy, Spain, and Africa. She has also travelled closer to home and been to every Australian state and territory.
