James Alan Montgomery (1866-1949) was an Episcopal priest and Professor of Old Testament and Semitics, first at the Philadelphia Divinity School and then at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to commentaries on the boks of Kings and Daniel, he is the author of numerous works, including 'Arabia and the Bible,' 'Aramaic Incantation Texts from Nippur,' 'The Ras Shamra Mythological Texts,' and 'The Origin of the Gospel according to St. John.'
