The African colonization was one of the issues that was able to impose itself in the history of the continent. This one being animated by the interest of the colonist, has left traces, which nowadays are difficult to remove. Starting from the installation of port facilities on the Atlantic coast, these territories have become real economic, cultural and administrative poles. The legacy of colonization has been dazzling, from the currency to the language, from the infrastructures to the political context, their developments have been drawn from the colonial heritage. The French-speaking countries of Black Africa (CFA) all have similar development approaches. While their cities are experiencing macro- or bi-headedness accompanied by intense urbanization, urban planning and management is still struggling to take hold. This book traces and demonstrates the historical similarities of their metropolises, the planning policies and urban practices that actually constrain the harmonious development of these agglomerations. These constraints are generally formulated by political decisions, economic resources and cultural identity.
