An active imagination is one of the author's earliest memories, when having a pet lion in the back garden was his favourite fantasy. Creative writing was one of his favourite subjects at school and after receiving a comment of 'weird' from his English teacher, it was more than enough motivation to consider a career in writing. Whilst this writing pot was left to simmer, Gus LaShelle has been a butcher and a baker, but not a candlestick maker. The Sand Sleigh is his first picture book.
