Autorenporträt
Born in the mountains of NC, the author treasured the annual vacations to the coast. After varied jobs as teacher, social worker, social justice advocate, and editor in multiple cities, she finally realized her dream of coastal living. She was immediately captivated by another resident there, the loggerhead sea turtle. Becoming a certified turtle volunteer, she delighted in protecting nests and then the hatchlings who emerged. When circumstances returned her to the mountains, the writing of this book became a way to continue educating and protecting the turtles.
