Being a first prime minister of India, he proclaimed dams are the big temples of India, apart from neglecting all the environmental issues. Dams would help for agriculture development and boost village economy which directly or indirectly promote industrialisation in India. to building scientific and technological infrastructure he gave free hand to scientific communities and never interfere in the policy making or suggestions given by the scientists. As result first nuclear reactor in Asia was established in India, five Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs), National Physical Laboratory, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research were established.
