It is not the pastoral tithe that is no longer functional; it is the third year for the poor and the widow and the annual pilgrimage tithe. The pastoral tithe stands because the Levitical priesthood was not just concluded but replaced by the system of a new priesthood or set of pastors; meaning there are still men and women dedicated at fully serving God from the altar. A thing that means there is still a need to supplement their efforts with a hire from the congregation of God. There was not an abolishing or finishing of the priesthood in heaven which the pastoral and priesthood on earth is under. Rather the title of the Highpriest in heaven was translated to the new pastors on earth being a new priesthood according to the gifting of the Son. Melchisedek's priesthood moved for the Jesus Christ's priesthood. Meaning who was priest over the Levites had to come down and die so that He may transfer the priesthood to all humanity from the house of Aaron. Hebrews 5:1-14 KJV For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
