Yorkshire author Alice Muriel Williamson (1869-1933) was born in Cleveland, England. She co-wrote many novels with her husband, Charles Norris Williamson, frequently using the pen name "C.N. and A.M. Williamson." Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Alice Williamson wrote extensively, becoming well-known for her travelogues and romance fiction. Strong female protagonists negotiating themes of romance, adventure, and social norms were a common characteristic of Williamson's writing. She gained notoriety for her vivid depictions of far-off places, which she derived from her lengthy travels with her spouse. Their travels served as fascinating backdrops and cultural experiences for their stories, which had a significant impact on their writing. Williamson became well-known in the era's literary scene and experienced both critical and financial success throughout her career.
