Are all vampires evil? Father Rolf Bouers certainly thinks so! Rolf has been tracking and terminating them for almost 300 years and according to him there's only one kind. Wicked! Since his being bitten in the 1700s that's all it's been. Rolf finds that Archangel Metatron has been keeping the venom from fully transforming him until the time is right. When the beautiful down-to-earth Talon McMalley offers him temporary shelter in her family's guest house after storms destroy his shelter, he's not sure what to make of her hospitality. He's never been treated this nicely before. Being a vampire hunter is a lonely life for the devoutly religious. Being a half vampire while doing it is even harder. Talon might just be his only friend if not for the Archangel and the shapeshifter guiding him. Talon is a country girl at heart with her old Chevy truck, Carheart boots and her father's old tools despite growing up in the gaudy and eccentric family mansion the rest of her family lives in like royalty. She wants out of her house and away from them, but she's stuck until she receives her inheritance. So she buys the site of a crumbling old church where Rolf just happens to be taking shelter and doing what he calls "God's work" as a hunter. She is taken aback when Rolf first tries to scare her away and then kisses her spontaneously! Twice! Of course, when she learns that he's half vampire and it was either that to save her life, or become his next meal, that changes things! Spring storms destroy his shelter so she offers him a place to stay temporarily. Was this a good idea? Is it possible that Rolf was led to Talon to learn love? Does he dare to allow himself to be loved? How can he possibly accept that his new fate as a full vampire will be acceptable? Can he and Talon make it work?
