Born in Pointe-Noire in Congo-Brazzaville, Caya Makhélé is a writer, painter, novelist, short story writer, poet and playwright. In 1993, he was awarded the Grand Prix Tchicaya U Tam'Si of Radio France Internationale in theatre, in 1994, the Grand Prix for the best Frenchlanguage short story and in 1996, the Chilcote Award of the Cleveland Theatre Festival (USA). His bibliography includes several titles, some of which have been translated into English, German, Czech and Spanish. He's a member of the League of Dramatic Authors and Composers in France (SACD).
