This study analyzed the security situation of the Exiled Human Rights Defenders in Uganda. The objectives of the study were to; analyze the security situation of exiled HRDs in Uganda, examine the role of different stakeholders towards sustaining the living conditions of exiled HRDs in Uganda and assess the initiatives by the local, national and international agencies to secure the exiled HRDs in Uganda. The study employed a case study and descriptive approaches which allow for intensive observations and investigation of salient factors in the units of study. The study embraced 110 HRDSNET UG, operational staff, Government officials from OPM, staff from MoDP, representatives of Local, National and International NGOs. The results show that there are security challenges, most of them being restrictive legal framework especially in respect of the NGOs which needed to be looked into, threats to personal security, arrests and detentions as well as burglary of property and documents. The study recommends donors must develop exible funding capabilities that allow EHRDs to access granting mechanisms in order to build organizations capable of operating with HRDs in exile.
