Devoted to analysis of the Russian health care system in the beginning of XXI century and formation of self-identity of medical practitioners in Russia. The positive and negative features of the system change are analyzed and basic problems of health care system are presented. The author's definition shows self-identity of professional group of doctors as simultaneously the process and the result of relating to the members of this group as a whole, which can be represented in the readiness to follow definite group ethical norms; in having a recognisable system of values; in relating to specific social interests of the group; in understanding of the importance of the professional group in the life of the wider society and ambitions of the group as a whole in the contribution they can make; in status passage from not being a member to being a member of the group, which brings certain responsibilities and privileges. Author considers the aspects of identity as factors of social inclusion: personal - institutional aspect, personal-typological aspect, socio-genetic aspect, psycho-ecological aspect.
