Can a sassy witch and a cocky wolf-shifter play nice? I'm not someone who gets pissed off easily, but when the guy I just saved from being demon kill gives me attitude instead of gratitude, I get pissed. Wolfy is rude and ungrateful, and I don't like him. Pardon me. Let me introduce myself. The name's Lucy, and I happen to be a witch. The guy I'm pissed at happens to be a wolf-shifter. And it turns out he's pissed because he needed one of the demons I killed alive to question. How was I supposed to know that, though? He looked like he was screwed. I thought I was helping him. He doesn't need to be such a jerk. Since I don't like wasting my time on jerks, I don't stick around and trade barbs with wolfy. I leave him in my dust. I don't expect I'll see him again, at least not anytime soon, but fate has other plans. Guess who comes to my rescue when a couple of demons ambush me? Yeah, you guessed it. Wolfy. Unlike when I thought I was saving him, he actually saved me. If he hadn't shown up when he did, I wouldn't be here. The funny thing about near-death experiences - they put things in perspective. Any animosity between wolfy and me melts away like butter. Of course, once that animosity is gone, it's a lot harder to ignore the fact that wolfy - whose name is Deklan, by the way - is a frickin' hottie. And why should I ignore that? We're both consenting adults. What's the harm in exploring a mutual attraction? Anyways, it turns out, Deklan needs help. He's trying to find the demon that killed his friend. That's what he was trying to do the night we met. And I thwarted him by killing the demons he was going to interrogate for information on Malek. Of course, I agree to help him. As we work together and search for Malek, the attraction between us kinda explodes. You know what they say - all work and no play is no fun. Well, working and playing with wolfy is A LOT of fun!
