Anthony the ant feels different too, being the smallest student at his school, and the only one with hearing loss and cerebral palsy. But when the two find each other-and a mutual love of sunsets-they become fast friends and discover that there is beauty in what makes us different, and serenity in shared experiences.

Autorenporträt
Mike Dorsey originally wrote The Silent Sunset as a poem in 1995 during an undergraduate internship that had nothing to do with writing. He held on to the poem for the next twenty-seven years, hoping it would someday become a children's book. As a deaf person with cerebral palsy, Mike understands how it can be challenging to smile upon life in a society where most people don't understand what it's like to be different. People with disabilities have proven to him that life can be like a sunset; it beautifies one's troubled soul to make friends with another person who struggles. Mike is also the author of the memoir Wake Up Annie Mather! He holds a master's degree in social work and is married with two children. He and his family live in Pittsford, New York.
