Fifty-five new myths that tell of a rather particular village in the Weald, a quiet part of the World that does its best not to get your attention. Each story is told in as few words as is necessary, in the tradition of sagas in an epigram, each is accompanied by an illustration by the author which tries to fill in some blanks left by the words. Each little myth points to a bigger truth. Overheard, sought out, located, acquired, compiled, catalogued, visualised, illustrated and written up in the spirit of Ossian and Rowley, and Le Città Invisibili.

Autorenporträt
Jon Mortimer is a university lecturer with an interest in the manner in which words change the way we see space, the way space changes the way we see ourselves, and the role that myth has in empowering the thing we call 'place'. He lives in the centre of the village that is the centre of these myths, in a house made of mud and sticks.
