Autorenporträt
Steve Bonham is a storyteller, a published author, an inveterate traveller, for decades a songwriter, performer and musician, and an award-winning psychologist. Born in Derbyshire, England, Steve studied psychology and philosophy at university. He has recorded more than 10 albums; written two musicals; and several books including his latest: Stumbling Over Eden He is the author of the Vagabond Philosopher blog and proud member of The Long Road playing 'renegade Americana' all over the world. His writing style has been described as Bill Bryson meets Woody Guthrie meets Don Quixote! In his own words:"Let me introduce myself. For many years I have been a bit of a vagabond heading out, mostly on my two feet, along the backways and byways. There is a 'truth' in journeying that I find compelling - to take to the trail 'opens' you out to chance and serendipity - the wonderful world of accidental meetings and encounters. It's about getting the dirt under your fingernails, the blisters on your feet in the compelling quixotic attempt to see the world through other eyes. This has led me to being followed by Moroccan secret police down the Draa valley dressed in djellabahs riding Velocette motor bikes, sleeping in hollowed out mound of ice called a quinzee on the frozen lakes of Ontario and riding around Greek islands on a motorbike with my underpants drying on the handlebars."The outputs of this? Not so much travel books as much as explorations in the form of prose, songs and poetry. And explorations in turn, not so much of places, but ideas. His book, A Little Nostalgia for Freedom was described as: "beguiling blend of travelogue , psychology and the philosophy of identity" (Wigtown Book Festival) Other books have included: A Beautiful Broken Dream - about a journey mostly on foot through the Southern States of the USA; How to Survive and Thrive in an Impossible World and his latest Stumbling Over Eden.FeedbackSteve Bonham is a storyteller in the truest sense of the term, and ... he doesn't back away from experimenting with his evolving style of attack. " Gashouse Radio"He doesn't just talk the talk; he walks the walk." Roisin Ingles, Irish TimesYou could have heard a pin drop as Steve spoke, we were all remembering our lived and unlived adventures, while quietly resolving to have more. It was inspiring." Cilian FennelCreator & Producer of RTÉ's award-winning Centenary show."Laconic, funny and intensely human." Robert Twigger, award winning author of Angry White Pyjamas"bold and innovative'" RnR Magazine"Steve has a remarkable story to tell - and it's well worth hearing. He's a master communicator and a very inspiring presence" Trevor White: Director of The Little Museum of Dublin.
