James Allen Smith hat seine Kindheit als Army Brat in verschieden Teilen Deutschlands und in den USA verbracht. James, der aus einer Familie von Berufssoldaten stammt, hat sich schon früh als einziger gegen eine Karriere beim US-Militär entschieden. Das schwarze Schaf der Familie studierte stattdessen darstellende Kunst und Malerei an der Schule des Museum of Fine Art in Boston. Kaum 20 Jahre alt, zog es ihn auch schon weiter nach Missouri. Der Gelengenheitssänger hat in seiner neuen Rolle als Nachtclub-Betreiber namenhafte Bands wie Cheap Trick , No Doubt oder Wallflowers gebucht.
