Piedmont s Spiritual Transcendence Scale (1999, 2003)
was utilized to gather data including demographic
variables and spiritual attitudes. Statistical
analyses indicated a difference in spiritual
transcendence orientation between elementary public
school principals and secondary public school
principals, and between women and
men in these roles. There was not a significant
difference found among age categories in the K-12
public school principal respondents studied. Female
and elementary school principals reported the highest
levels of spiritual transcendence. It was the
intention of this research to contribute to a base of
knowledge regarding the spiritual transcendence
orientation of K-12 public school principals.
