For decades, I lived in the shadows, hidden behind someone else's demands, needs, and expectations. I thought that if I gave enough, stayed quiet enough, and loved hard enough, things would get better. Instead, I lost myself piece by piece, until the woman I once was felt like a distant memory. For decades, I lived in the shadows, hidden behind someone else's demands, needs, and expectations. I thought that if I gave enough, stayed quiet enough, and loved hard enough, things would get better. Instead, I lost myself piece by piece, until the woman I once was felt like a distant memory. This is my story, a raw, unflinching account of life with a narcissist. It's a story of manipulation, control, and walking on eggshells. But it's also a story of rediscovery, resilience, and reclaiming the light that was always mine to begin with. In The Spotlight Was Never Mine, I pull back the curtain on the complexities of living with a narcissist. From the moments of love-bombing that drew me in to the gaslighting, silent treatments, and blame-shifting that nearly broke me, this book explores the reality of emotional abuse and the strength it takes to endure. But this isn't just a story of survival, it's a story of transformation. It's about finding my voice through writing, embracing my worth, and choosing to rewrite the narrative of my life. It's about creating boundaries, finding joy in small moments, and deciding to live authentically, even in the face of adversity. For anyone who has ever felt trapped, invisible, or powerless, The Spotlight Was Never Mine is a reminder that you are not alone. You are so much more than their reflection, and your story, your light, deserves to shine.

Autorenporträt
Katlyn Rose retired from her career as a corporate bookkeeper to fully embrace a path of caregiving and holistic health. Since 2005, she has become a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, herbalist, noncertified baker/chef, driven by a personal passion for the healing powers of food and natural herbs. Her research delves deeply into the effects of these natural remedies on various chronic conditions, including Alzheimer's and diabetes. From a very early age, Katlyn fell in love with the written word, a passion that only grew stronger after the challenges of Hurricane Michael in 2018 and the reflective period of the pandemic. As an author, she writes fiction, children's stories, and self-help books, each piece a reflection of her deep empathy and the insights she has gained throughout her life. Married for 35 plus years and settled on a vibrant farm in rural Georgia, Katlyn lives with her husband and a diverse array of rescue animals, including dogs, donkeys, peacocks, cats, and more. Her farm is not only a sanctuary for these animals but also a living laboratory for her beliefs in natural healing, where she practices and advocates for natural medicine over conventional treatments. Katlyn's days are enriched by her intellectual pursuits and her heartfelt communication with her animals, about which she often says, "I talk to them, and they talk back." She encourages everyone to read and learn something new every single day, embodying a life of continuous growth and curiosity.
