This study attempted to investigate the status of the struggle for political democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. 1. What are the provisions and features of the Congo Transition Act of 1992 which provided for the democratization of the Congo nation? 2. What political, politico-military, psycho-social and economic factors hindered the democratization of the nation? 3. What were the internal opportunities for Congo to establish democracy? 4. How did the Congolese political leaders deal with the problems/constraints and internal opportunities confronting the country's democratization? The historical method was utilized in this study. Written and printed materials such as books, magazines and newspapers were used in the gathering and compilation of data. Data from the internet and news networks were also utilized.
