The monograph "The Stavropol Press of the Late 20th Century: Structural and Typological Development" reconstructs the history of transformation of traditional Soviet press and emergence of new socio-political and specialized editions. The article looks into the formation of regional periodicals structure in conditions of changing social relations in Russia on the materials of Stavropol Territory. The article reveals a set of questions connected with the typological development of traditional Soviet and new periodicals. The authors analyze the process of diversification of regional printed information space, as well as the causes of instability of the newspaper world in the context of all-Russian and local factors of the mentioned period. The monograph could be used for the study of the history of the Russian provincial journalism at the end of the last century. The publication is also intended for practicing journalists and organisers of new projects in the sphere of regional periodicals.
